In support of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), SDS Solutions, Inc. designed and implemented a scalable cloud computing solution using Amazon Web Services (AWS) to support whole genome sequencing data analysis for state and local food safety labs.  To support the GenomeTrakr program, FDA-CFSAN needed a graphical based bioinformatics solution that could scale dynamically as more users were added to the system.  SDS implemented a solution that leveraged the open source web based bioinformatics system called Galaxy, on top of AWS's Cloud Formation Cluster (CfnCluster).  SDS is still maintaining this environment and is used by over 50 food safety laboratories globally.  The AWS solution developed provides the processing power required at a very predictable cost.
